This article describes and analyzes the role of Islamic education in overcoming the impacts of social change in the globalization era. In life, humans will always experience social change, which subsequently leads to the emergence of social problems. Therefore, to prepare the next generation to address every problem resulting from these social changes, the role of education—especially Islamic education—is required. This study is a qualitative research, in which the research activities involve describing and analyzing the problems. Data collection was carried out by sourcing from literature studies related to the discussion. The abstraction and interpretation of the collected texts utilized the hermeneutic method. As for the data analysis technique, it went through three steps: first, data reduction; second, data presentation; and finally, drawing conclusions. Thus, it can be concluded that Islamic education plays an important role in social change. These roles include: Islamic education can play a role in building a high civilization. Islamic education nurtures and prepares students to adapt to ongoing social changes. Islamic education has a strategic role in rebuilding social solidarity that has faded due to social changes in today's modern era. Social conflict can also occur as a result of social change; therefore, Islamic education plays a role in preventing humans from social conflict.
